Ownership & Operations

SBA was started by our founding partners, each of whom have at least 20 years specialist background in one or more of the select industry segments we serve. AJ Gallagher, at that time the fourth largest insurance broker in the world, took a minority equity position in SBA during 2008. In 2010, Gallagher assumed 100% ownership and we now trade as a fully owned but autonomously licensed and operated subsidiary.

All broking and advisory work is done directly by the owners of the firm, with every client having a dedicated responsible partner as well as at least one alternate. Clerical and administrative support is provided by experienced and qualified staff.

Reflecting our specialist focus, a key SBA differentiator is our intentionally small number of clients (currently approximately 80) relative to our premium volume (now approaching $85 million). Maintaining such a compact customer list enables us to specifically address every client's individual needs in a knowledgeable and responsive manner.

SBA is based in Perth, the hub of the Australian resources industry. We operate nationally and internationally both directly and via alliances. Distance is no barrier and indeed most of our clients are either subsidiaries of international companies or local firms with substantial overseas operations.
