SBA was granted Australian Financial Services license number 227119 in May 2003, authorising us to deal in and advise on General Insurance for "wholesale" clients. The client definition on our license means we do not handle domestic or most small business insurances, enabling us to concentrate purely on what we do best.

Prior to the formation of SBA, insurance broking in Australia was beset with mergers and rationalisation, resulting in a dire lack of choice for many customers. The areas most disadvantaged were those at the 'heavy' end - Mining, Energy, Construction, and Corporate, where resources particularly in the major broking houses were and remain severely stretched.

SBA was the first "New Wave" Australian broking house created specifically to provide clients in these sectors with the fresh alternative they needed.
