Relevant Experience
Originally from Canada, Bill has over 30 Years broking, underwriting and risk management background in North America and Australia, the last 15 in Senior Management roles.

After gaining experience with a number of companies including Marsh and Stenhouse, Bill moved to Australia in 1981, employed for his first three years here with the insurance subsidiary of a major US bank. He then joined JLT in 1984 and Aon in 1987, where he spent 8 years as a Director of their Perth operations.

In 1995 Bill and another SBA partner, Steve McWhirter, effected an MBO of Heath Fielding’s office in W.A., growing revenues 5 fold over the period to 2000. He then transferred to Melbourne to run the company’s second largest branch with 80 staff and premium throughput in excess of $150 Million. Returning to Perth, Bill together with our other founding shareholders set up SBA.

Most of his broking career has been spent handling larger energy, resource and corporate accounts which have included the likes of Chevron / WAPET, Normandy Mining, BHP Petroleum, Kalgoorlie Consolidated Gold Mines, Robe River Iron, BGC Group, Village / Warner and others. As Managing Director of SBA he is also the designated Account Director or Alternate for a many of our significant clients, and travels regularly to insurance centers in Eastern Australia, Africa, Asia, Europe and America.
